Data collection for the 2017 Corporate Functions benchmarking project is now open

The Corporate Functions project is open to all NHS providers and provides a unique reference point to test your performance and value across a range of corporate functions and shared services. The project analyses; Payroll, Human Resources, Estates, IM&T, Procurement, Risk Management, Occupational Health, Clinical Governance, Communications, Catering, Strategy, and other back office functions.

Please note:

  • The number of questions asked in the Estates Section has been reduced. ERIC (Estates Returns Information Collection) data will be taken directly from NHS Digital when it is published. Organisations that are not in England will be sent a small, supplementary questionnaire to cover this data.
  • The project will again collect narrative information about key cost saving measures being implemented by participants. We will process this to generate a savings compendium document, which will be released shortly after data collection closes.

Data collection will run until 30th September 2017, and you will need to log in to the members' area to register for the project and input your data. Reporting will take place in January 2018.

If you participate in this year's project, you will receive:

  • Access to a benchmarking toolkit, allowing you to benchmark your service across hundreds of metrics.
  • A bespoke report, outlining key messages and metrics for corporate and shared services nationally and highlighting the position for your organisation.

There is no additional cost to participate in this project as your organisation is a member of the NHS Benchmarking Network. For any further information, please contact Chris McAuley.

For information; the Emergency Care, Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation, Acute Therapies, Community Services and a new project on Delayed Transfers of Care are currently open for data collection, and a new project on Outpatient services launches in September.
