Enhanced Community Sector Products

Would you like your organisation to become a member of the world’s largest healthcare benchmarking organisation? This year, the NHS Benchmarking Network has been working with it’s community sector members to offer enhanced community products. 91% of all community providers of NHS funded care are Network members, and they regularly take part in the benchmarking programmes. We are now offering an enhanced benchmarking programme which you could become part of in 2017.

Current products on offer include:

Community Services benchmarking

The Community Services project covers 26 different services, and benchmarks those services which are targeted at children, older people and those who have long-term conditions. These include District Nursing, Health Visiting, Community based therapy services, Community Dental Services, Community Paediatrics, Wheelchair services and specialist nursing services. We also look at emerging Community Integrated Care Teams, core to the delivery of the new models of care.

Community Hospitals benchmarking

The Community Hospital’s project focuses on the inpatient care for older people, as the common function of all community hospitals. Despite the clear evidence of the effectiveness of community hospitals in the rehabilitation of older people and the key role they will play in the new models of care, there is little evidence available nationally about what is happening within our community hospitals. The Network project aims to bridge the data gap and understand the breadth and depth of community hospital provision in the UK.

Enhanced monthly community indicators reporting

Originally developed by the Aspirant and Community Foundation Trusts Network, successfully running for the last 6 years. 51 metrics are collected monthly covering patient safety and quality, productivity, workforce, data quality and finance. Participants receive access to a toolkit update monthly, and a bespoke report. Benefits to participating include:

  • Timely reports back to participants (on average, 10 days elapse from submission of data to feedback)
  • Comparable benchmarks to be used to inform the Trust Board on performance across the 5 domains
  • Ability to filter metrics down to service level, Ward Managers, Service Leads, etc
  • Utilise measurable evidence in Trust’s internal performance management systems
  • Fills the gap of a lack of any national data set at present on community based provision
  • Access a monthly benchmarking toolkit and report
  • Data transparency (not anonymised) to permit shared learning and networking in a safe environment

However, organisations must be a member of the NHS Benchmarking Network to participate.

The Network also offers a range of other benchmarking products which may be of use to your organisation. Further information is available on the NHS Benchmarking website.
