The National Audit of Care at the End of Life has been steadily taking form over the past few months, with positive outcomes in recent Steering Group and Advisory Group meetings prior to the first phase of the audit. We are excited to be working alongside specialists in the End of Life field and look forward to the future discussions that will come out of these meetings, to improve the quality and outcomes of care for people during their last admission to hospital, prior to death.
Registration opening soon
We are pleased to announce that registration for the NACEL will be opening in February 2018. Acute, community and mental health hospitals throughout England and Wales are encouraged to complete the expression of interest form by Friday 23rd February, to undertake the audit. Please consult your End of Life Care lead if you are expecting to participate in the audit.
The NACEL will collect data for the following three elements; organisational level audit, case note review, and carer reported measure, with the staff reported measure and spotlight audits following in subsequent years.
You can learn more about the scope of the audit by reading the Initial Briefing, on the NACEL webpage. Specifications for these areas are currently being finalised and we are excited to share the details with organisations in the coming weeks. The data collection tool for the organisational level audit and case note review will be open from June to October 2018, with the carer reported measure being collected from June to August 2018.
