The CCG Functions benchmarking project is for commissioners examining organisational structures and processes to support CCGs in developing their services and managing their resources. The project primarily uses national datasets, in conjunction with a short questionnaire.
CCGs are unique and varied organisations. CCGs provide services on a population basis and their relatively small size (in terms of staffing levels) makes them very different to NHS provider organisations. For example, Human Resources is one of the functions that is least likely to be outsourced by a provider organisation, but one most likely to be outsourced by a CCG.
The project uses publicly available data, where available, and information from a short questionnaire to compare metrics covering CCG populations, structures and functions.
This project is for all commissioners. Subscribing members will receive a bespoke dashboard report outlining key metrics, as well as highlighting your reported positions.
2018/19 Benchmarking Project
This is the third annual cycle of the project and it largely follows the same structure as the 2017/18 project, providing comparisons from two major national data sources (QOF and the CCG outcomes and improvement framework) along with comparisons from the short questionnaire completed by participants.
You can read more about the highlights from the 2018 project in our news section.
2019/20 Benchmarking Project
The commissioner project is not taking place in the 2019/20 work programme, but the Network welcomes members that would like to share their good practice in this area.
