Planned Care

This project is for all commissioners of planned care. If you participate in this project you will receive: Access to a benchmarking toolkit, offering comparisons on hundreds of metrics; a high level national report outlining key messages and metrics nationally; and attendance at the Theatres and Planned Care event to hear from national speakers and member good practice sites. Providers may be interested in the Theatres project which explores the provision of theatres and surgical beds in acute trusts.

Planned Care for Commissioners was a new project in 2016/17 work programme. The project aims to provide a strategic overview of the investment in the healthcare system on planned care, and develop benchmarking analytics to fill the gap in the data already available to commissioners.

The project will take a holistic view of elective care commissioning. The project covers, outpatient activity, follow up to new ratios, conversion rates to surgery, referral to treatment times, referral management systems, integrated delivery models, key pathways, patient reported outcome measures and other quality indicators.  The project links with the Theatres project completed by acute trusts.
